Madera Unified School District has directed all classroom teachers, counselors, teachers on special assignment, and academic coaches to return to school Wednesday to work on a three-week curriculum for students.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday the district will begin distributing same-day lunches and next-day breakfasts at all elementary and K-8 schools. The distributions will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The district’s notification on Tuesday said the schoolwork is for enrichment and practice only and will not be graded, and students should be able to complete them without adult supervision.
The district plans to distribute the student materials between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Principals will ask teachers to communicate the pick-up information to parents and also to work in shifts to hand the materials out.
Some Employees Are Excused
Employees who are 65 or older, who have underlying health issues, or who have child care issues are excused from reporting to work.
Staffers will be allowed to bring their children with them to school. Other staffers can self-isolate at school as needed.
All nurses, LVNs, and health clerks should return to work Wednesday and Thursday to return medications to students from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Is this an actual picture from a MUSD classroom, or just some stock photo of an unknown one? If it is MUSD, what the hell is a crucifix doing on the wall of a public school? Where’s the Pentagram, the Star of David, the Buddha, and the Crescent Moon and Star to go with it?

Thanks for your sharp eyes. It is a Shutterstock stock photo. We won’t use it again for public school stories.
