There’s a little more separation between you and your checker at some Fresno area grocery stores.
If you shop at Save Mart, you’ve likely seen the new “sneeze guards” installed over the past few days.
In a Facebook post, Save Mart described why it took the COVID-19 fighting measure: “We are in this together! Our stores are open every day for you and we are taking additional measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We have installed new sneeze guards in our checkout lanes to further support social distancing.”

According to the Associated Press, grocery stores across the U.S. are installing protective plastic shields at checkouts to help keep cashiers and shoppers from infecting one another with the coronavirus.
Walmart shoppers can also expect sneeze guards at its cash registers in the next two to three weeks. These plastic barriers are already in place at some of the pharmacy lanes at Walmart and Sam’s Club stores but will be extended to all stores across the country.
The Kroger supermarket chain says sneeze guards will be erected at all its more than 2,700 stores in the next few weeks as the outbreak intensifies.
The Business Insider reports that in the past few days, shoppers have also shared images of new plexiglass screens set up at Costco checkouts.
